Hillwalking and Mountaineering in Scotland

[Buchaillie Etive Mor - Glencoe]

Hillwalking is a pursuit enjoyed by millions of people throughout the world. It extremely popular in the UK and especially in Scotland where we are blessed with more than our fair share of the beatiful and the rugged mountain landscape. More than this, almost all of the mountain ranges in Scotland are easily accessible.

As an extension to the Archive we thought that it would be useful to publish information related to mountaineering and hillwalking in Scotland. Not everyone who comes here (including hardened rock climbers) wants to rock climb but hundreds of thousands of visitors would love to explore our mountain ranges, if only they could get any information! While publishing general hillwalking we are also slowly compiling articles on classic mountaineering routes and wet weather alternatives (scrambles/rock) when most rock-climbing is out of the question.
